Last Blog
When we first got the assignment to do the blogging I was not looking forward to it because I really do not do that much stuff with the computer. But after setting it up, which was not easy, I really enjoyed doing these blogs. It gave me a chance to say what I really thought about something we did in class or a story we read. My favorite blog would be when we were doing all the poetry and the stuff about Poe just stuff like that. I loved it. Next years juniors should do it, and yes some of them will hate it because this is not there kind of thing. But that is one thing I loved about english this year I did stuff in this class that i would not have done else were. So thank you Mrs. Williams for an awesome year and I am so glad that I got to have you before you retired!

The Great Gatsby
My music list for The Great Gatsby would be
The Charleston, James P. Johnson for the parties at Gatsby's house when Nick would go and how Nick could hear the music all night long because he was his neighbor.
Minnie the Moocher, Irving Mills/Cab Calloway/Clarence Gaskill, This song just because of the whole group and the gossip and all the different stories going on around here.
Doctor Jazz, Joe "King" Oliver, this song because of the Doctors eyes on the billboard and just because of the era for the whole book. The billboard watches everyone doing anything dancing, or even cheating behind your husbands back, anything.

Stephen Crane Poetry
Each small gleam was a voice
-Stephen Crane
Each small gleam was a voice, A lantern voice -- In little songs of carmine, violet, green, gold. A chorus of colours came over the water; The wondrous leaf-shadow no longer wavered, No pines crooned on the hills, The blue night was elsewhere a silence, When the chorus of colours came over the water, Little songs of carmine, violet, green, gold. Small glowing pebbles Thrown on the dark plane of evening Sing good ballads of God And eternity, with soul's rest. Little priests, little holy fathers, None can doubt the truth of your hymning, When the marvellous chorus comes over the water, Songs of carmine, violet, green, gold.
This poem to me is a churches choir, with their booming praise to the lord
but in a most soothing way. Their notes becomes the colors you see in the water,
as if it is the dance of song with the water.

Mark Twain Quotes

If it's your job to eat a frog, it's best to do it first thing in the morning. And If it's your job to eat two frogs, it's best to eat the biggest one first.
Mark Twain
Mark Twain
I took the frog to be a challenge or a project. Do it right away in the morning don't wait a while and see to it later. Also if you are stuck with two challenges then take the bigger one first and challenge yourself. You never know till you try it out.

Civil Rights Movement

In this article I found it talks about the segregated school systems on how seperate but equal was wrong and doesn't follow the constitution and violated the fourteenth amendment. Relateing this article to the stories we read in class, would be this case had many attempts of stoping this before 1954, but they never passed the law. They kept going and just would not stop which was like the stories we read, on how in moody she jjst sat down but would not leave because she knew it had to be done. Not giving up was their main goal and they had accomplished just that in this case, and now there in no more segregated schools.

A Walk Through Harlem
Like most of the African Americans in the 1920's, nine of the Delany children moved to Harlem. In which all that came there were looking for a new life. Bessie's office was at 2305 seventh Avenue in which she shared with hap. They both went to church every Sunday to thank the lord for what they got. Bessie's office was the center for activists in which Bessie strongly believed in. While Sadie was more of a side line kind of girl. She believed for rights but staid low. They both followed on the radio on what the activists were doing next. But altogether Harlem was the place to be for making a different for the African American Communities, and both Sadie and Bessie paid their dues.

Tom Feelings Art
In this drawing done by Tom Feeling, the women has an expressions that shows that she has her mind set on something. With this drawing the Delany sisters had their mind set on what they wanted in life and they just followed that path till they could go no further. They had obstacles but as in the drawing they held their chins up high and and just let the obstacles come.
